The Nurburgringexplorer Project
In 2005 we were all enjoying the Nurburgring websites available to us.
There was a lot of "In Car" footage on the web and occasionally you could watch a bit of wobbly trackside footage from Brunnchen, Adenau-Forst and Breidscheid.
Most of the information was in text format with some photos.
A plan was hatched to create a website with a lot more audio visual content.
The demo DVD background which briefly shows the interactive side of the project.
Whilst on a Touristfahren visit some workers were removing the Adenau-Forst spectator barriers.
The track was going to be enclosed with lots of modern catch fencing.
Safety is always a good thing but this meant the character of the track would change.
The experience of leaning on an old steel barrier, watching all kinds of folk whizzing past in perfect view was to disappear behind wire mesh.
Demo film 2 from the Nurburgringexplorer Project
A decision was made to document the track. It had never been done before so why not?
The Nurburgringexplorer team spent a long time meticulously filming at hundreds of viewpoints. This footage has been edited into two unique films.
They are around 20 minutes in length and present the track in amazing detail.
The films show all kinds of vehicles. These are not manufacturers promotional videos.
A highly cut edit of film 2
The track was walked before and after opening times, thousands of images were photographed. These were handcrafted into high quality 180 degree panoramic images.
The Panoramics were then processed into a forerunner of Google streetview. They have also been animated for watching on T.V

This archive can be enjoyed using both T.V and computer. The computer option allows for full manipulation of the media.
We have created a map based prototype. Click a dot and you are on track looking around in a quality rather higher than Streetviews.
A television prototype is also ready.
A short film showing the animated Panoramic images, location Antoniusbuche
It is a carefully created historic record of the Nordschleife. The catch fences have now changed their visual appearance.
The project requires a distributor to take it to the next level.
